Today I got to listen to an amazing presentation by Daniel Lorencez. Where he spoke about the unspokens of job searching.

2 weeks into my searching and I am already feeling burnout creeping into my bones. Being a hard worker and determined to make it, scares me. I have sent out many job applications, had a handful of coffee chats, and continue to think of how can I stay on top of everything?!?

Society has shifted the way we view work, and there are 2 sides to every coin. It is amazing that we decided you can be fulfilled at work and that it doesn't have to be just for the money. On the flip side, we have abandoned the idea of work being a means to provide. Now work is a checklist of wants and needs. But is that truly healthy?
A pro to this work thinking is many companies are waking up that they have to offer their employees a work-life balance. Without that, they have higher turnover and employees are not as productive as they could be. Some surveys found that employee happiness boosted productivity by about 12%. The Workplace Research Foundation reported that highly engaged employees were much more likely to be productive by 38%. The big push from employees in engagement in the work place and work-life balance are helping shape many companies.

So what does that mean for you? How does this help you figure out your next steps? Hopefully I can help below.

Make a list

Write down negotiable and non-negotiables in a work place for you.
Some non-negotiables could be, health insurance. Negotiable, could be weekend work. This will help you also narrow down companies you would like to work for while also guiding questions you may want to know in coffee chats to learn more about a company.

Get off the media

I have actually deleted Instagram from my phone and consciously use Linkedin for posting, connecting with collegues or for a coffee chat. Aimlessly scrolling through content whether you are actively reading it or not is information being swallowed by your brain.
The only media I have kept is Youtube, as I can purposely find videos I enjoy for learning or to relax but I still try to be…
